Red Hat Linux - can't login. Pls HELP!!
What you can't do is boot the Vista install disk and run setup outside of XP, you must have a working installation to start from within. Once you start, you can either upgrade or choose a custom install and not have the corrupt XP installation ported over. In either case, you will have a fresh operating system as

Quicken Technical Support - NOT!
Nobody is being "forced" to upgrade to 2008 - there are plenty of options for you to choose from. Quite frankly, MS' intention to provide 2004 with *foreward* Often you can't even expect to retain *backward* compatibility. As far as I'm concerned MacBU should be commended for their efforts to provide the update

Note that you can't run both Vista and XP using the same license (so you can't, for example, install Vista on a virtual machine if you're also using the XP "downgrade" install as your boot OS). You get only one license and have to choose one OS or the other. And OEMs don't have to make the "downgrade" discs

My Red Hat 7.3 Experience...
My point was that Redhat Upgrade should be idiot-proof and smooth-running. I should be able to boot up from CD, choose upgrade and get my system upgraded. Now upgrade fails. It's quite annoying. Ok, something has to be done. I am skilled with dos and windows, but not as skilled with linux.

Low-Light Options for Theatre
I choose upgrade , rather than install. I'm then asked whether I have any SCSI devices. I don't, so I respond "no." The installer then tells me it's scanning the hard drive, then asks again if I have any SCSI devices, and I again respond "no." The installer then tells me "the device or resource is busy.

So, I download RH 7.3 to upgrade my 7.2 installation and it simply doesn't work. So I don't buck the system, if the proggie doesn't I always stick with straight windows + latest service packs and don't do anything fancy with nLite, so can't comment on how well it does the other features.
